ONE OF MY OWN

By doing, almost immediately after, what he’d asked me not to was saying...
‘I am not a man of my word...
‘you can’t rely on me...
‘I won’t be there...’
He had a dream about me and woke up screaming.
‘If there’s a fire on one end then there’s a fool on the other,’ he said about a cigarette.
‘Did you make that up yourself?’
‘Yes,’ he said, ‘it’s one of my own.’
